Barbara has gone through a lot of trouble since she got married. Her husband has not always been easy to get along with. At a certain point he didn’t allow her to work in the home any longer, but we still had close contact with her. Her husband died a bit more than a year ago, leaving her pregnant with her fourth child. Her husband’s family took her other three children away from her after the funeral, taking them to their hometown, on the other side of the country. Barbara has fought for nine months to get her children back, meanwhile giving birth to her youngest. Some months ago, her husband’s family agreed to let her pick up her two sons, James and Deza. However, they wouldn’t give her her daughter back.
Barbara has now resumed work, but taking care of three kids by yourself is tough. We are thus looking for people who want to sponsor the food of James, Diza, and Gordon, her youngest. €30 a month will cover all the food costs for one child. Also, we are still looking for a sponsor for James’ education, which comes down to €40 a month. If you can help Barbara, please let us know.

Hanukkah’s support extends beyond the children’s home. We want all the children in and around Sunyani to have access to good food, clothing, medical care and education. However, we often encounter parents who face such difficult circumstances that they cannot provide this. This is the case even for some of our own workers. That’s why we want to give to give some extra assistance to Barbara, one of the mama’s who has been with us from the time we were still in the rented home; a mama that is in the hearts of many of the Hanukkah family.Barbara has gone through a lot of trouble since she got married.
